PRESERVE THEIR LITTLE MASTERPIECE

How to Turn a Child's Drawing Into a Permanent Metal Keepsake

That crooked house, funny family portrait, or first handwritten “I love you” doesn't have to disappear into a box of old papers. Turn your child's actual artwork into an engraved metal keepsake you can hold onto for years.

Some artwork is worth keeping forever.

Kids make a lot of art. Some gets hung on the refrigerator. Some gets tucked into a drawer. And every once in a while, they create something you know you're going to want to remember.

With a photograph or scan and a little help from AI, you can turn that drawing into clean artwork suitable for laser engraving while preserving the original lines, handwriting, and wonderful little imperfections that make it theirs.

STEP 1

Photograph or Scan the Drawing

A scanner is ideal, but a phone photo works just fine. Lay the artwork as flat as possible and photograph it straight-on in bright, even light.

Don't worry if the paper has wrinkles, shadows, notebook lines, smudges, or a messy background. Those can usually be removed while keeping the child's original artwork intact.

STEP 2

Turn It Into Engraving-Ready Artwork

Upload the photograph to an AI image tool such as ChatGPT and ask it to clean up the image for engraving.

The important part is telling the AI not to improve or redraw the child's artwork. The uneven lines, funny proportions, backwards letters, and other imperfections are often exactly what you'll want to remember.

Copyable AI Prompt
Convert this photograph of a child's drawing into clean black artwork suitable for laser engraving. Preserve the child's original drawing as accurately as possible. Do not redraw, improve, straighten, or reinterpret the artwork. Preserve the original shapes, proportions, lines, handwriting, and imperfections. Remove the paper background, shadows, wrinkles, ruled lines, and other unwanted marks. Convert the drawing to solid black artwork on a transparent background. Simplify only when necessary for clean laser engraving. The finished image should look like the child's original drawing, not a professionally redrawn version.
STEP 3

Choose What You Want to Make

Once your child's drawing has been converted into engraving-ready artwork, you can use that same image on all kinds of metal keepsakes. Keep the drawing exactly as they made it, or add their name, age, date, a short message, or even a QR code.
